Wedding Gifts

Your presence is the greatest gift of all, but if you’d like to contribute something, a gift towards some special pieces for our home would mean a lot. After 8 wonderful years together, we’ve gathered the essentials. Now we’re saving for some meaningful upgrades!

Guest List Round Up

YES EVEN IF YOU’VE ALREADY RSVP’D ON WHATSAPP!

Please let us know your dietary requirements and where you’ll be staying (so we can get you home). This is an intimate venue and we can only accommodate children from our immediate family (e.g. Aunties, Uncles and Cousins). If you’re unsure, please ask us.

The small nature of the site does mean that numbers are limited and by named invite only. We will be holding a post wedding party in Sheffield for extended guests shortly after.

RSVP form is no longer active. If you need to contact us, please find our details in the directions section below.

Onsite tent camping/camper vans are welcome for free. We can’t guarantee a spot, but we’ll let you know if you’d prefer this over a local hotel. No under 18s in the camping area. Convenience over comfort.
You Enhance and Enlighten us

Our Love Story

Our love story would not be possible without you lovely people to share it with. It began in 2016, 8th April to be exact. Walking towards the Harley pub in Sheffield. A love story that blossomed through a love of music, the sunrise, the stars and camping. We are our true selves around each other which provides freedom and safety to be.

This symbol, an ‘and’ sign, represents our connection – Not a union that fills gaps in each other, but a bond between two whole, independent souls. We don’t see ourselves completing one another. Instead, our love is an addition, a joining of strengths to create something greater. We stand firmly on our own, balanced and grounded, steadying each other when the earth shakes. Together, we uplift one another, not because we must, but because we choose to. Our love empowers us both, enhancing who we already are.

No. Not even biodegradable or flower petals. This creates too much of a mess in the outdoors and cannot be cleaned up easily. We wish to leave no trace other than footprints.

Yes! We have a stocked bar there so please don’t bring your own. They will be on site from 12pm until midnight. They have asked us not to consume our own alcohol on site and we need to respect that. We’ll provide a drink on arrival, and put wine on the tables. There’ll be soft drinks and non-alcoholic options.

Smart but sensible. No stilettos or heels. This is an outdoor venue. The weather could turn and we must be prepared. The forecast on the approach to the wedding will help us prepare further. The site does involve a short but fairly steep hill during the transit walk from the Ceremony to the Meal.

In the event of glorious sunshine: Light and summery dresses and suits, nothing too warm, lose the jackets. You need to be able to walk up and down a short hill. Sensible and comfortable footwear. No stilettos or heels.

In the event of glorious downpours: Much the same as above, but with a brolly. Wellies or boots on your feet. Footwear may be removed after the ceremony.

Anything other than glorious this or that (this is Scotland after all): We’re all adults, mostly. I’m sure we’ll figure it out! Watch the forecast, dress to impress, bring your best spirits, a warm layer or 2 and dance. No stilettos or heels.

No stilettos or heels (If you see anyone in these on the day, you can refer them here). Sturdy footwear will be best. Wellies or boots if its even likely to rain.

Awesome, we hope. But we can’t plan the weather unfortunately. Check the Dumfries Weather on BBC regularly

If we do get a band of high pressure, we’ll be blessed with views of the Lake District throughout or celebrations and this is the chance we wish to take.

Please arrive between 11:30-12:00 on Saturday 26th July 2025. Head to reception on arrival and walk up to the Roundhouse which will take about 10 minutes. You do not want to rush up this hill as you’ll arrive all sweaty.

11:30-12:00 – Arrivals (It takes 10 minutes to walk up from reception)
12:00 – Welcome drinks at the bar (Roundhouse)
13:00 – Wedding Ceremony
13:30 – Canapes and drinks at the Roundhouse
15:00 – Gather at the Marquee for Speeches
15:30 – Main Meal (Marquee)
18:00 – Party at the Roundhouse and Cake Cutting
21:00 – Evening Meal (Roundhouse)
22:30 – Shuttle taxi service (TBC) to accommodation

To get to Marthrown of Mabie, you’ll need to take a cab, use the Map Section at the foot of the page for directions. Please do not drive yourself (unless you speak to us first – Very limited parking is available on site). Head to the Reception Area. Signs will guide you in, but you can call Liamarjit if further assistance is needed (Phone number below).

Pothole Warning – There are potholes on the road up through the forest. Do not attempt to avoid them as you may disappear off the banking. Please drive over the potholes slowly at 5mph. You’ll bounce a little, but no harm will come to you or your vehicles with this advice.

Taxis must drop off at the reception area. Strictly no cars at the Roundhouse unless approved, please speak to us if needed.

Anyone staying on site can head to the reception area and will be directed to your accommodation from there.

We have on site accommodation allocated to the wedding party. We also have on site camping and campervan spots for over 18s only as this could remain noisy until the end of the party.

For those wishing to book accommodation, we have some recommendations below in the Accommodation Section of the page. We ask you kindly not to book the Mabie House Hotel, the manager is an unpleasant fellow. There is plenty to do in the area if you wish to spend the weekend or longer here. Airbnb have some good options and there are also some alternative options with Yurts and Shepherds huts in the area too.

On site will be Portaloos, Composting Loos and The Bushes.

Portaloos will be unisex. Please keep them clean and upright.

Composting Loos (some with a view) require everyone to sit down for everything (Please read the instructions on the loo door) and drop a bit of sawdust (provided) after you’ve done. And enjoy the breeze, the fresh air and the view.

The Bushes (since this is a forest) are available for anyone that wishes to find a discreet place off the walkways. No solids in the fauna please.

We are arranging a shuttle service from 10:30pm (TBC – Will update here with more details)

If you have any other questions, please let us know using email liamarjit.bhogal@gmail.com

Instructions for the Taxis – You can follow google maps as far as Islesteps on the A710. After that please follow these instructions as you may end up at a locked gate!

  • At the end of a long stretch of road approx 1.5 miles past Islesteps (small village) turn right at the bend, signed for Mabie Forest, Mabie House Hotel and Marthrown of Mabie (200yds past the Mabie Farm Park turn off).
  • Proceed a mile up the tarmac drive until you can see Mabie House Hotel ahead.
  • The road bears to the left of the hotel, continue on it. Turn right immediately after the hotel at the parking spots between a wooden building (Forestry Offices) and the white buildings.
  • You then go over a diagonal speed bump, past the boulders and through an open gate onto the forest track. Max speed 15mph, watch the potholes, go slowly over them (5mph). Don’t try and swerve them or risk disappearing off the road – you’ll get stuck and the bar does not deliver there…
  • Ignore the sign which says “No Unauthorised Access” – you are coming here therefore you are authorised!
  • As we are in a public forest where you could encounter dog walkers, mountain bikers, children and horses please drive at 15mph or less especially at the back of the hotel where it can be busy.
  • Drive for half a mile up the track going straight across at the crossroads (do not be tempted to turn left – miles of forest roads to get lost in!) then a further half a mile up the hill until you reach us – the Reception Bunkhouses are on the left – the small car park is on the right.
  • Get out at the buildings and proceed on foot into the complex. Follow signs to the Roundhouse. You go between the buildings, heading away from the car park, round the back of the farthest and along the walkway. Head right at the fence in front of the marquee and up to the Roundhouse, turning right again at the low ropes course.
  • If you have any problems please ring on 01387 247900, 07801 517 550 or 07786 628456 and we’ll talk you in.
